Voyagers are interested in what is happening in the world around. As part of our maths we are taking a photo of an Autumn tree everyday to record the changes. You can see our tree at flickr. A Voyage of Growth - Primary Plant Project

Update; it is now the beginning of June and after some strong winds our tree is looking very bare. The air temp has dropped and it is feeling chilly too but the usual strongs haven't arrived yet. Voyagers are making the most of the still weather to get outside. A Voyage of Growth - Primary Plant Project

We have planted some seeds that we are caring for and watching grow. The seeds we have planted are flax plants native to New Zealand. Our natives grow slowly. At the end of the year we hope to be able to plant them in our school grounds. In a few years we will be able to use the flax we have grown to learn to weave.

UPDATE; August 2007
Our tree has been bare for many weeks now. We are looking forward to spring being just around the corner and seeing some budding new green leaves.
Sean has been watering our flax seeds but the news is not good... nothing has happened... there seems to be a little white mould on some of our pots but no shoots. It is VERY DISAPPOINTING and Sean keeps hoping if he diligently waters that a miracle will occur. I'm afraid we will have to try again when the weather warms up.

Here in Bengough, Saskatchewan in Canada, the leaves on our trees are nice and green. We have had so much rain these last two weeks that everything is nice and green. Although it is almost the beginning of June, it has been very cool here. When the suns comes back again, all the plants will really double in size (and so will all the mosquitoes!). It is kind of interesting to see your trees heading into fall, at exactly the same time our trees are heading into summer.
